Worth Monkey – What’s Your Stuff Worth?

Who doesn’t have an ancient laptop or a forgotten digital camera lurking around in the back of their junk drawer? Electronic waste is rampant, and it’s making it impossible for people to truly clean out their closets and move forward with their lives. Worth Monkey is a web-app that can help people get rid of their digital and non-digital clutter, to make more room for all the new products they need – or maybe just want – to have in their lives.

To use Worth Monkey, just head to the site and type in the name of the product you want to discard. Be as specific as possible – since a general term like “laptop” or “phone” isn’t likely to generate very good results – and wait for Worth Monkey to pull up a graph showing the average price that your used product is selling for online. Based on current searches of recent online listings from places like eBay, Amazon, and Google, Worth Monkey is able to pinpoint a great price, a fair price, and an over priced amount for just about any product you search for on the site.

Although Worth Monkey is geared towards people trying to sell electronic goods, the web-app can also generate price comparisons for cars, bikes, sports equipment, and more. Essentially, Worth Monkey takes the guess work out of pricing when it comes time to sell virtually any type of real world item – hopefully speeding up the time it takes to sell your used goods on Craigslist, eBay, or even at real world auction houses in your local town.

Practical Uses:

  • Find out how much money your used laptop is selling for online
  • Decide whether it’s worthwhile to trade in your car for a new model
  • Get ideas on how much to charge for a chair you’re selling on Craigslist
  • Determine whether the used iPod you found on eBay is priced fairly

Insider Tips:

  • Type in the name of the product you want to sell or its product number
  • Embed the Worth Monkey widget in your Craigslist sales listing to validate your asking price
  • Add more keywords to narrow down the pricing estimates for a product
  • Sign up for a free account to access upgraded features like instant appraisals

What we liked:

  • Worth Monkey functions as a virtual Kelly’ Blue Book for electronic goods
  • Price quotes are based on actual data, not biased opinions or reviews
  • Helps people sell their products more quickly on Craigslist and eBay
  • Users can get price quotes for many types of goods on the site, not just electronics
  • Graphs show both the low end and the high end of the pricing spectrum

What we didn’t like:

  • Users can’t actually sell their used goods through the site

  1. Thanks for reviewing this site. I think I have fallen in love with that site. I like how they help you analyse whether you are getting a good deal when buying a piece of equipment or not. The number of products they have on that site is astounding as well. The only drawback is that we do not get to actually buy or sell anything on that site. It is not a major problem, as the link to the product is just a few clicks away.

If you like hiking, mountain climbing, or just traveling and camping out, then sleeping bags come in extremely handy. Sleeping bags are comfy readymade beds. Quite easy to set up. You’ll just lay it and you might be prepared to make use of it. But note that not all sleeping bags are the same.
