GetVega – Make Smart Decisions

What’s the best car for your family? How about the best vacation spot, or the best lasagna recipe? If you’re like most people, you have no idea. GetVega is a tool that people can use to remember what they love and make smarter decisions when it comes time to choose what’s best.

Anyone can register for GetVega by entering their email address and choosing a password, or by logging in through Twitter, Facebook, or Google. Once you’re in, you can browse through the lists that other users have created and follow the ones that seem interesting or worthwhile. To start creating lists of your own, grab the GetVega bookmarklet tool and drag it to your toolbar. When you get to a webpage with something you want to save – be it, an apartment, article, album, book, restaurant, or something else entirely – just click on the bookmarklet and type in the name of whatever it is you want to grab. If you’re saving an apartment listing, for example, you’ll be prompted to enter the name, address, price, floor, and any other identifying information. You can add images to your saved listing, as well, by clicking on the image directly on the webpage. The listings you save will appear in whichever list you select.

What’s the use in a list if you can’t compare all the results you’ve saved? GetVega shows all the content you’ve gathered for each list in a side-by-side view, which helps for making comparison decisions. Re-order the items on your lists by price, size, or location to help make a better decision, or share your list with friends to get input and find out what they think is the best choice.

Practical Uses:

  • Compare similar apartment listings in your town
  • Save all your favorite computers before making a decision on which to purchase
  • Decide on a vacation destination based on price
  • Look at images of the cars you’re considering buying side-by-side to decide which car is best

Insider Tips:

  • Save photos on GetVega just as you would on Pinterest
  • Any list can be made public or private
  • Multiple contributors can be added to a single list
  • Lists can be sorted by a number of variable factors

What we liked:

  • Side-by-side comparisons make it easier to make big decisions
  • The “magic grabber” tool is a bookmarklet that works with most browsers
  • People can manually add photos if they don’t like the images automatically associated with the links they’re saving
  • Public lists can be shared with friends via a URL link

What we didn’t like:

  • Nothing
