KeepTree – Record Memorable Video Messages

ss-keeptree
Sometimes in life, an email or phone call just won’t do. In those moments, being able to see a loved one’s face is all that matters. KeepTree is a video messaging service that people can use to record lullabies for their children, birthday shout outs for their friends, and holiday greetings for family members living overseas. These messages can be recorded, saved, and delivered at any time, which means both parties don’t have to be online simultaneously to share a special connection.

If you’ve got an Internet connection, a webcam, and the latest version of Flash, then you’ve got everything necessary to start recording videos with KeepTree. Connect to KeepTree’s servers, hit the “Record” button, and give KeepTree permission to access your webcam. Within seconds, you can start recording your first video message. Once your message has been recorded, you can choose whether to keep it private, share it with specific people (like a spouse or child), or share it with your entire contact list. KeepTree will send an email alert to the people you’ve selected, and recipients can click on the provided link to view your personal message.

When you sync KeepTree with your Facebook account, your friends on the social network are automatically added as contacts. Sharing videos with these friends becomes especially easy, since KeepTree can send new video notifications via email or Facebook message. Syncing your KeepTree account with Facebook also allows you to share videos on your Facebook wall.

Practical Uses:

  • Send your dad a video message on his birthday
  • Congratulate a friend on his new job
  • Share a big announcement with all your friends on Facebook
  • Record yourself singing a lullaby, for times when you’re not home by bedtime

Insider Tips:

  • Mark videos as private, public, or shared
  • Users can sync their KeepTree accounts with Facebook
  • Enable future delivery to send videos at a later date
  • Set up KeepTree to send multiple videos to a friend at once

What we liked:

  • Two people don’t need to have a simultaneous Internet connection to share special video moments
  • Premium members can select any time to deliver a message, even 30 years in the future
  • All KeepTree videos are backed up for security
  • Users with free accounts have up to 100 MB of storage

What we didn’t like:
