Planleaf – Manage Tasks Through Email

ss-planleaf
Why reinvent the wheel? Rather than encouraging people to switch up the way they work and use platforms they aren’t familiar with, Planleaf has developed a task management system that works entirely through the email platforms people are already comfortable using. This enables people to manage tasks by themselves or together with colleagues without ever having to use unfamiliar applications.

Planleaf works 100% in your email inbox, and you only have to signup once through the website to begin using the service. At that point, you can compose an email with any person you’d like to assign a task to or share a task with, and add tasks@planleaf.com to the cc field. Formatting is important to ensure Planleaf is able to organize your tasks correctly. List each task in the body of an email, starting with a dash before each item on your list. (For example: -Reschedule trip.) You can tag colleagues by including an @-sign before their names, and add calendar items by including the day of the week in parenthesis after the task description.

Based on the information that you and your colleagues have sent to Planleaf, you’ll receive an email with your complete task list embedded. You’ll also receive daily digests that include all of your tasks in one location. For people who need a task manager but don’t want to start using yet another third-party application, Planleaf is an excellent alternative that works within its users’ email inboxes.

Practical Uses:

  • Create a personal task list
  • Receive daily digests with everything you need to get done
  • Assign important tasks to colleagues
  • Collaborate with teammates without using a third-party platform

Insider Tips:

  • CC individual colleagues or your entire team on a task list
  • Edit current tasks at any time
  • Add deadlines by including the date in parenthesis after a task

What we liked:

  • Task emails are formatted as checklists
  • Groups can collaborate on joint task lists
  • Planleaf’s task lists are formatted for easy viewing
  • Daily digests show all the items due in the next 24 hours

What we didn’t like:

  • Users have to rely on their own email clients for searching tags
