Clerkdogs – Get Movie Recommendations from Film Buffs

ss-clerkdogs

We can’t rave about Clerkdogs enough. The concept is simple: a movie recommendation site powered by expert film buffs – many of which are former video store clerks. It was started by the founder of Reel.com as a way to recommend movies to people who are looking for an experience similar to that of going into a local, independent video store, a place where they’re certain to get personalized recommendations based on their favorites.

To use Clerkdogs, simply input a movie you like and click on “match.” Several matches will come up, with the “Clerk’s pick” at the very top. What we like most about the matches is the detailed descriptions. For instance, under the “Clerk’s pick,” there’s a written description of the film. Under every other film, there’s a comparative description, like “less edgy” or “similar tone.” The best thing about this is the “Supermatch” function, where you can fine-tune your choices, tuning down the romance or upping the humor. This is different and more personalized than other movie recommendation sites, and this is where Clerkdogs stands out most.

As if this weren’t enough, Clerkdogs is working to include other features, such as their “Clerk’s shelf” and a feature called the “Movie lab.” The site is still in beta, so there’s no doubt it’ll only improve as time goes on but we’re already huge fans of Clerkdogs.
