Tibesti – Earn Money From Social Shopping

ss-tibesti

Imagine a social network built around reviewing and sharing products and you will have some idea of what Tibesti sets out to achieve. Once you have completed the short sign up process, you are invited to fill out a profile, which includes your interests and add a picture. Then it’s time to get to the heart of Tibesti, by adding some products you like to your profile. Simply navigate to the ‘expert reviews’ section and select a product category from the menu on the left. Choose a product, and you can write a short review. This product is added to your profile page and you will earn a commission if someone buys the product as a result of your review.

There are plenty of other features to the site too, such as the ability to create your own online store, give advice to other users, rate reviews, create wish lists and join groups.

Most people will be interested in the possibility of making money with the site. Tibesti gives 25% commission on any products purchased through your page, as well as 25% on any products you purchase. While that may be attractive, this process only works with certain retailers, Amazon being a notable exception.

Tibesti is an interesting concept, but site navigation is counter-intuitive and there wasn’t a lot of on-site help. In addition, there’s still work to be done before the product range is comprehensive.

Practical Uses:

  • Create and share wish lists in different categories on a single site
  • Showcase the items that interest you
  • Earn money for writing reviews

Insider Tips:

  • Make sure your profile picture is square as as the cropping tools are rigid
  • Keep track of the latest reviews by grabbing the RSS feed
  • The more products you add to your page, the better your chances of earning commission
  • Leave comments on reviews to participate in the Tibesti community

What we liked:

  • The idea of making money from product reviews is intriguing
  • The ‘most expensive’ section is fun
  • There are expert reviews in a variety of categories
  • You can use Tibesti for storing wish lists

What we didn’t like:

  • The product range in some categories is limited
  • It’s not easy to come to grips with the site interface
  • On-site help is limited and not very useful
