Boxbe – Declutter Your Inbox

Boxbe is a web-app that may know its users better than they know themselves. By tracking the emails that its users send and receive on a daily basis, Boxbe can effectively screen messages in a way that is both intelligent and accurate. Emails from recognized friends, family members, and coworkers are pushed to the top of Boxbe users’ email inboxes, while those from spammers and unknown individuals are carefully weeded out.

If you use Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Google Apps, or AOL, you can sign up for Boxbe and start taking advantage of its free service right away. Sit back and relax while Boxbe scans your email inbox and reviews all the messages you’ve recently sent and received. Using this information, Boxbe will create a custom Guest List full of all the people you communicate with on a regular basis. When you receive an email from a person who isn’t on this list, that person will automatically receive an email asking to verify their message before it is delivered. Verified messages move forward to your inbox, while messages from spammers and commercial outlets are held in a waiting area for you to review. Additionally, verified messages from people who aren’t on your Guest List are ranked on a scale of 1 to 10, making it easy to tell which messages should be checked first. When you read an email message from a new colleague or old friend, click once to add that person to your Guest List so he or she won’t have to go through the verification process ever again.

Guest Lists are continually changing and updating based on who you have recently corresponded with, so there’s no need to worry about your list ever becoming out of date. For people who want an uncomplicated system that will unclutter their email inboxes, Boxbe is the answer.

Practical Uses:

  • Respond to important messages in less time
  • Receive emails only from selected friends, family members, and colleagues
  • Spend less time sifting through junk mail
  • Cut down on the amount of spam mail that ends up in your inbox

Insider Tips:

  • Boxbe works with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, and Google Apps
  • People who don’t use the above email services can set up a Boxbe public forwarding address
  • Anyone you send an email to is automatically added to your Guest List
  • Messages sent by unknown senders are placed in a Waiting List folder

What we liked:

  • Boxbe is really easy to set up, and it’s free to use
  • Messages from unknown senders are rated on a 1 to 10 scale
  • Unknown senders must verify their emails before they appear in your inbox
  • Guest Lists are automatically updated based on who you communicate with

What we didn’t like:

  • Boxbe currently integrates with only a handful of email services
  • Messages are only held in the Waiting List for 30 days before they’re automatically deleted

Boxbe is now requiring the transcription of commercial messages as part of the confirmation process. Since I am not a monkey, I refuse to comply with this and am boycotting the product (as a webmaster I need to process a lot of communications, so this comes up often).

    • BOXBE COMMITTED FORGERY. I never asked for their service and never paid much attention to them. Now that I am selling books on Amazon, with one book priced at $67.50 they grabbed one order from my email and since I never knew the order existed, the buyer cancelled his order on the book that cost me $1,50 and I am selling for $67.50, I am upset and morseso when they wrote to Amazon and forged my name.
