DIRECTR – Becoming a Filmmaking Pro

ss-diretcr

The proliferation of smartphone cameras means anyone can be a filmmaker these days, but the editing on most home movies leaves something to be desired. DIRECTR fills a void in the marketplace, offering dead simple video directing and editing tools that anyone can use make short films that people will actually want to watch.

What’s your inspiration? With DIRECTR, you can make a beautiful 30-second film about any topic in the world. Scroll through the storyboards created by professional directors until you find an idea that looks like something you’d like to create. You also have the option to direct your own film from scratch. If you’ve chosen the first option, DIRECTR will present you with a basic storyboard that guides you through the filmmaking process scene-by-scene. Follow these directions to collect all the shots necessary to make your film. Set up your shots by copying what you see on the DIRECTR storyboard, then click the camera icon to film your shot directly inside the smartphone app. In some cases, you may want to take multiple shots for a single scene, and then re-watch them later when deciding which shot to use.

When you’re done with filming, click “Finish Movie” and DIRECTR will get to work actually producing your masterpiece. Watch your movie immediately from your smartphone, or share it with friends on Facebook to get their feedback on your work. DIRECTR is an excellent application for people who enjoy making home videos but don’t have the technical skills necessary to turn those videos into actual art.
