BriteVerify – Clean Up Your Customer Databases

ss-briteverify
Email marketing has become a big business in the U.S., with 60% of SMBs and nonprofit organizations now trying to grow their email subscriber lists “at all times,” according to a 2013 survey by Constant Contact. But the quality of an email subscriber list is just as important as the size, which is where BriteVerify comes into play. The web-based application helps businesses clean up their subscriber lists and improves click-through rates for email marketing campaigns.

Begin your cleanup process by importing your existing customer email list into the BriteVerify platform. You can drag and drop the file into place, use FTP, or use a cloud storage site like Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive. BriteVerify will provide you with the total number of records and the maximum estimated cost for cleaning those records up. (Pricing starts at one cent per verification.) Once you’ve accepted the terms, BriteVerify will verify your addresses and provide you with a cleaned up list that can be downloaded and imported back into the email management system of your choice.

BriteVerify’s real-time reports provide you with a breakdown showing how many of the email addresses on your list are valid, invalid, and unknown. You can share your verified lists with coworkers or clients through BriteVerify’s platform, with optional password protection when necessary. Finally, BriteVerify offers a useful solution for companies with web forms. By pasting BriteVerify’s code into their web forms, mobile apps, CRM, or POS systems, businesses can verify customer email addresses automatically—allowing them to catch input errors immediately, while it’s still easy for the customer to fix.

Practical Uses:

  • Verify the email addresses on your company marketing list
  • Automatically verify contact information before customers enroll in your loyalty program
  • Share your email lists with clients through a password-protected link
  • Filter the email addresses you’ve verified by project status

Insider Tips:

  • Import email addresses by connecting BriteVerify to Box, Google Drive, or Dropbox
  • BriteVerify can recommend consultants to help clients integrate the system into their workflows
  • Change your username or password at any time after signing up

What we liked:

  • Costs decrease as companies verify more email addresses
  • BriteVerify can help companies improve conversion rates on email campaigns
  • Using the API, companies can integrate BriteVerify into their POS or CRM systems
  • BriteVerify doesn’t have any monthly minimums or contract requirements

What we didn’t like:

  • BriteVerify doesn’t provide custom integration services for clients

  1. Nice overview but solving email deliverability issues requires more than simply trying to “ping” (i.e. perform an SMTP check) on one’s email file. Pinging, while useful as one component of a comprehensive email hygiene, correction, and validation service, provides imperfect results as many ISPs frown on this practice.

Moreover, the email addresses that cause blacklisting and blocking issues these days are not the bounces – ISPs have pretty high thresholds for bouncing addresses. Accordingly, an email hygiene, correction, and validation service needs to:
    1) Remove toxic but deliverable addresses from your file (e.g. spamtraps, honeypots, frequent spam complainers, etc.)
    2) Flag AND Correct inadvertent syntax/typo/formatting/misspelling/top level domain errors – Spamhaus, a leading spam-filtering organization, has been buying up typoed domains and using these as spamtraps
    3) Validate the deliverability of each email by (a) checking against known email-specific activity (e.g. opens, clickthroughs, opt-outs, spam complaints) over 100’s of millions of sends; (b) performing SMTP checks (both historical and real-time); and (c) utilizing activity gleaned by social media sites to confirm the deliverability of every email address in your list

ISPs’ screens and thresholds for blocking email have been getting tighter each year. To ensure your marketing programs don’t get slogged down or lost in the murky deliverability waters requires expertise, experience, and sophisticated analysis to ferret out the problematic and bouncing email addresses so you can maximize your ROI.

I found a pretty good article on email validation and the misconceptions and difference between some services and what you think you’re getting versus what you actually get, A really good comparison and article. http://www.emailanswers.com/2014/07/email-validation-services-created-equal/

Thanks for the article. I tried a few services and after being less than satisfied with either the results or price, I continued my search and found proofy.io. I honestly can say my search for a high quality low price email validation service is over. I have been using them for the past year and could not be happier. Check them out and hopefully you can stop your search too!
